The Program

A real path to ownership

We provide a furnished home, a dedicated team, and up to 12 months to complete the journey to owning a home of your own.

Move into a program home

Rent a beautiful, partially furnished Evolve home near our North Milwaukee campus while you build toward homeownership.

Build your financial foundation

Work with our team and partners like Self-Help Federal Credit Union to strengthen your credit, savings, and mortgage readiness.

Find and purchase your home

With up to 12 months of support and coaching, identify and close on a home that belongs to your family.

Receive your grants

Receive a $5,000 homeownership grant and a $2,000 furniture allowance upon successfully completing the program.

Before entering the program, Shaunte was sleeping on a mattress. After 18 months in an Evolve program home, she closed on a four-bedroom home of her own — selected from over 1,300 applicants. Her story was covered by TMJ4 as a turning point for Milwaukee families.

Eligibility

Do you qualify?

We look for single parents ready to commit to the process. Here is what is required to apply.

Personal Requirements

Single parent with at least one biological or adopted child
Adult children are eligible; all must be on prior year tax return
Decent rental history (eviction must be at least 24 months prior)
Provide 3 rental references
Sign rental agreement and program contract including media release

Financial Requirements

3 years of stable employment history
Gross income at least 3x monthly rent ($3,300 minimum)
Debt to income ratio within program limit
Minimum 580 credit score
Bankruptcy accepted (2 to 4 years prior, must be loan-eligible)
Current on taxes, no liens or pending judgements
Pass criminal background and credit check
